Exciting news! I’ve launched a companion podcast to this blog, Reading for the Renaissance Man. On it, I’ll be reading old books from the Western Canon with some amount of commentary. The idea is to help all of us who have been “meaning to get to” certain classic works for years, but have somehow not found the time. We’ll be starting with Thucydides’s The Peloponnesian War in our soon-to-be-posted first real episode. What’s the connection with the goal of this blog? Well, the Renaissance Man was a broadly read humanist, and part of his ability to persuade was based on being familiar with a wide range of people, times, and problems through history. These books have been a part of what shaped such men for a very long time, and will hopefully be easier to digest if we can listen to them while driving, doing repetitive tasks, and so forth.
You can find the audio here, and should be able to find it wherever you listen to podcasts:
(Not sure why the player is refusing to embed, I’ll work on that.)
Or the video here, if you prefer that (it’s literally just me talking into a camera, but some folks like video, so here you go):
Let me know what you think, and thanks for coming along with me!

Does that mean your hiatus is officially over?
Also, you may want to turn off your ceiling fans while recording. The way the shadows are flashing, you might make somebody discover they’re epileptic. ๐
